Jessi received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University in 2014. She has worked in orthopedics, medical-surgical, and community health education prior to finding her home in postpartum. After 3 years working as a mother baby nurse, Jessi obtained the respected International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) designation. As an IBCLC, Jessi is committed to supporting families in meeting their unique feeding goals. Her non-judgmental, compassionate approach shines through her work. As a mom of 2, she personally understands the many ups and downs of this journey and is passionate about supporting women and families during this rewarding but challenging time.
While breastfeeding is natural, and the biologically normal way to feed our babies, it doesn't come easy for many people. There are lots of reasons for this; medical, social, emotional, and/or personal. At Shelby Lactation, we believe in the grey area- choosing to breastfeed does not have to be "all or nothing". While the science is clear that breastmilk is superior to formula the fact is that exclusively breastfeeding is not ideal or even possible for every mother. We are committed to providing the education and empowerment necessary to support you in your unique goals. We work with families who are exclusively breastfeeding, pumping, using donated breastmilk, and using both formula and breastmilk.
Access to quality lactation support is essential to many on their breastfeeding journey, therefor we are committed to providing personalized care to each of our clients regardless of ability to pay. If finances are challenging for you, please reach out to discuss an alternative arrangement.
Some women experience difficulty from the get-go. Many don't hit challenges until later. But I never met a breastfeeding mother who has never had questions or concerns. Latching difficulty, pain while breastfeeding, slow infant weight gain, weaning, recurring mastitis, oversupply, undersupply, relactation, medication questions and going back to work are just a few reasons to meet with an IBCLC.
We understand that every mother and baby are unique, and we tailor our services to meet your individual needs. We are committed to providing evidence-based care and empowering you to make informed decisions about your breastfeeding journey. Please reach out to discuss how we may help you.
